METACOGNITIVE READING STRATEGIES, MOTIVATION, AND READING COMPREHENSION PERFORMANCE OF SAUDI EFL STUDENTS.

According to the journal Metacognitive reading strategies and reading motivation play a significant role in increasing reading comprehension.
In metacognitive strategies the categorized devided into four components: 
  • Metacognitive knowledge which refer to the person’s awarness or perceptions about the factors (i.e. person, task, strategy) influencing cognitive activities.
  • The metacognitive experiences which refer to the individual’s metal or emotional responses pertaining to any cognitive activity.
  •  The goals/tasks which refer to the purpose or objective of any cognitive understanding.
  • The actions/strategies which refer to activities carried out by learners to fulfill their purpose or metacognitive objective.

(awai,2011). There is three main aspects of metacognitive.
  •  Metacognitive knowledge,
  •   Metacognitive monitoring,
  • Self regulation and control (pihtrich, wolfers & Baxter,2008).

The correlation between metacognitive and motivation in reading comprehension is they play an importance role in improving student interesting in reading comprehension. So with the existence of this relationship/correlation student will interest when they study about reading comprehension[1].

    1. This stretegy will work by every student will be given a text, then the students will think it by their-selves about the information that contained in the text before the teacher explain the contents of the text that they get.

  9. Yeah. That's right. The student in our country is leck of reading. Using metacognitive i think can encourage student in reading comprehension. That's good
