HOW TO ENHANCE READING COMPREHENSION THROUGH METACOGNITIVE STRATEGIES

Based on definition of flavell (1976), metacognitive is who described it as ‘one’s knowledge concerning one’s own cognitive processes and product or anything. Related to them. He also assrets thet metacognition includes theactive monitoring and consequent regulation and orchestration of information processing activities (Flavell 1976 : 232).
Metacognition is also one of the strategies where used in teaching learning process especially in reading comprehension. Metacognition or “ thinking about thinking” that involves the awarness and regulation of thinking processes.
In reading comprehension metacognitive strategy used to help students to think about the text and then they can understand the text before their teacher explain about it, this is called by “thinking about thinking”. This strategies is also can increased the students in comprehended the text.
Winne and hadwin has set four basic stages for metacognitive model: task  definition, goal setting and planning, enactment, and adaptation. Their model suggests that the learners generates the perseption of what the task is and the available resources, construct a plan for addressing the task, enacts study strategies, and makes changes to his or her cognitive structure based on perseptions and performance[1].

      we can use this strategy for every level that begin from junior high school until college student.
